Coming into Visual Literacy, I expected a basic course on design, photography, and film that would be a mundane stepping stone to more interesting classes. I’ve never been so glad to be completely off-base. This class has pushed me to produce quality bodies of work, take feedback and revise, and overall just push myself in this field. It has helped me to become much more confident in sharing my perspectives even when they dissent from others and I’ve been able to prove to myself that my work holds value. The class has also shown me the best aspects of collaboration; how to step back and allow others to find their niche, and then come together again to produce something great. Being received with genuine respect and valuation by professional clients was also empowering and the pride that I felt in presenting the final product solidified my interest in the fields of communication, photography, and design.
